FRP Ducts Systems
Many power stations in Europe and the USA have been equipped with fiberglass (FRP) duct systems, manufactured and assembled by Plasticon Composites International Contracting. Specially for the Flue Gas Desulphurization units, refurbishing and new stations, our fiberglass ducts have proven to be the best choice. New duct systems as well as temporarly bypass systems with high temperatures can be supplied by our group. Not only is a fiberglass duct easy to assemble, it is lightweight, mechanical strong and has excellent corrosion resistant properties.
Fiberglass ducts up to 12 meters diameter and beyond
The team of Plasticon Composites International Contracting is a full-service supplier when it comes to fiberglass duct systems for power industries. From the design to engineering, stress analysis to manufacturing onsite and assembly phase: we can to the job! With our on site winding facilities we are able to produce a variaty of diameters up to 12+ meter diameter and manage the total assembly from the absorber to the chimney or cooling water tower. Our project management skills are well developed and efficiency is our main competence.
Resistance to high temperatures
Fiberglass ducts are used to transport gases from one process to the other, high temperatures and chemical components are applicable. Our FRP duct systems could be used for application at a temperature of 300˚C and as FRP is 100% resistant to corrosion and all types of chemical fluids or gasses.
Plasticon Composites International Contracting designs and constructs ducts, chimney liners and stacks by using the Finite Element Method (FEM analysis) to meet the highest requirements and ensure products of perfect quality and safety.
Production
Our production locations are equipped with the latest technologies. With workshops located around the world and our ‘on-site winding unit’, Plasticon Projects can adapt to all local requirements. We manufacture up to 10 metres in our shops and up to 20 metres width at your site with one of our ‘on site winding plants’.
Advantages of FRP ducts:
- High mechanical strength
- Lightweight (steel ducts are five times as heavy!)
- Exceptional chemical resistance
- Excellent resistance to ageing and to atmospheric environments
- Dimensional stability
- Very high thermal insulation
- Excellent resilience as regards temperature
- Low thermal expansion coefficient
Ducts can be executed with:
- 90° Elbow with internal vanes
- Segmented elbow
- Transition pieces
- Ladders and condensate drainage
- Protection against electrostatic discharge
- Manholes
