First FGD at RTU Ugljevik power plant
In December 2019, the first FGD gypsum was produced by the new desulfurization plant, built by an asian engineering company together with Plasticon Projects, at a power plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Clean air as a must
As the thermal power plant dates from 1985, the outdated environmental safety standards of the power plant needed drastic improvement in order to comply with the European norms. In fact, clean air in a densely populated region is a ‘license to operate’ for another 25 years or more. For the engineering company the assignment was to provide a state-of-the-art desulfurization plant that would reduce the emission by a whopping 98%. With the new equipment in place, the emission is almost zero.
