Plasticon Projects Supports Tata Steel Nederland in Building a Landmark DeNOx Installation for Cleaner Air

Plasticon Projects is proud to collaborate with Tata Steel Nederland on the construction of a state-of-the-art DeNOx installation at their Pellet Plant in IJmuiden. This ambitious project aims to significantly reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment.

The DeNOx installation, part of Tata Steel's Roadmap Plus improvement program, is designed to decrease NOx emissions at the Pellet Plant by approximately 80%, which equates to a 30% reduction across the entire site. This reduction is achieved through innovative technology that injects ozone into the flue gases, making the nitrogen oxides soluble and allowing them to be effectively removed in the gas scrubber.

Plasticon Projects is responsible for manufacturing and installing key components of the gas scrubber, a critical element in the DeNOx process. Our team recently collaborated with Tata Steel employees and Mammoet to successfully hoist a section of the gas scrubber weighing 80,000 kg into place. This complex operation required meticulous planning and seamless coordination among all parties involved.

The construction of the DeNOx installation is progressing well, with completion expected by the end of 2025. Once operational, it will play a vital role in Tata Steel's commitment to reducing environmental impact and improving air quality in the IJmond region.
